Planning is the key to any move so below we have made some suggestions to help you with the process.

At least 1 month in advance

  • Arrange your quotation visit and confirm dates with your chosen removal company (hopefully Ede Bros!).

At least 2 weeks before

  • Change of address – once dates are confirmed – you should let friends family and necessary service companies know of your new address. Here are some reminders of who to notify:  Banks, building societies, credit card companies, insurance companies, service providers, doctors, dentist to name but a few.
  • Arrange to forward your post, if necessary.
  • Contact utility companies to arrange for disconnection.
  • Start to pack and maybe, sort/tidy as you go – Ede Bros are registered waste carriers so we can legally dispose of items if required.  Contact us to discuss your requirements.
  • Start to run down the contents of your freezer.
  • If you are packing yourself, and you have exchanged contracts, arrange for Ede Bros to deliver your boxes to you.

The week before your move

  • Remove any fixtures and fittings you may wish to take with you.
  • If you have items coming in to store, identify what these are.

Removal Day

  • Keep all your important documents and valuables in a safe place, so you know exactly where they are if needed.
  • Leave labelled keys for your buyers.
  • Take any final meter readings for utility companies.
  • Leave out manuals/instruction booklets for the new owners.
  • Once the removal crew have loaded your belongings, have a check round to ensure nothing has been forgotten.
  • Arrive at your new property with your keys before the removal crew arrive.

Things to keep handy on removal day

  • Paperwork for your purchase/sale
  • Address book
  • Basic first aid kit
  • Torch
  • Toilet rolls
  • Towels
  • Kettle, mugs, tea, coffee and sugar – always handy to keep the crew happy!

Finally…

  • Congratulations – after the many months of planning, you are in – time to relax after your stress free removal!
